Please Help Vancouver Family Find Their Lost Dog at Christmas

Lost dog

·         Dogs

One Vancouver, B.C. family is frantic to find their dog, “Levi,” who disappeared on Dec. 18.

Levi’s owners, who had flown to Boston, Mass., had just left their beloved dog with a dog-sitter that same day. Upon hearing the devastating news of Levi’s escape, they immediately flew back home to find him.

Today, the miniature Australian shepherd is still gone and his family is desperate for his return.

Levi is described as sweet, but shy and he will likely run if approached. He weighs approximately 17 pounds and is micro-chipped (            866-597-2424       microchip #0A12206166).

Levi was last seen on Dec. 21, at Kingsway, crossing Knight on the north side.

Those searching for Levi are worried that he is in the vicinity of busy roadways.

Please take a moment to cross-post this information and help find Levi. Anyone who has spotted him is asked to call:             778-847-7045

Christmas will not be the same for this family without Levi. Thank you for taking a moment to cross post this information.

True Peace Begins On Our Plates ~ By Patricia Tallman

Check out this beautiful letter from Patricia Tallman entitled “True Peace Begins On Our Plates.”
Message from the writer of this beautiful letter:
It would be most helpful for the animals if people would send in their positive feedback to the editor of the Langley Times, because I want to approach them to write a weekly column to further our compassion message for the animals.
His contact info is: newsroom@langleytimes.com
That would be the best thing we can  do for the animals. – a weekly column to keep the message constant. Because once Christmas is over, most people will forget about the article.

Please write a letter to BC Gaming about BC’s barbaric wolf kill

West Coast Environmental Law has sent a letter to Rich Coleman and BC Gaming saying BC’s barbaric wolf kill is illegal. Pacific Wild has added a link on their website that allows us with one click to send emails to BC officials in order to speak out against this cruel and barbaric decision. Go towards the middle of the page under “BC Government continues to turn a blind eye on illegal Wolf Kill contest” and click on the link for the sample letter.

They can’t speak for themselves, but we can.

THE MISSION:

We are declaring Saturday, December 22nd 2012 a National Day of Action Against Canada Goose, with hopes that thousands of animal defenders across the country will join us in calling out Canada Goose for the shameful role they have played in killing animals and popularizing fur.    Help us put a stop to animal cruelty by telling Canada Goose NO MORE!!! This is part of a much larger nation-wide action, so join us here in Vancouver to make some noise!  Our two main priorities for SHUT YOUR TRAPS! are to disrupt holiday sales of Canada Goose products, while drawing attention to the large and diverse network of people who oppose Canada Goose and fur/down.

Saturday December 22 at 1:30 p.m.

Vancouver Art Gallery

We’ll be meeting at the Art Gallery steps (facing georgia street) at 1:30pm to distribute signage before we march to a number of stores that sell Canada Goose fur and down.

https://www.facebook.com/events/498494896861213/?ref=3

December 22nd will be a historic day as animal defenders nationwide form a unified front against Canada Goose during the height of holiday shopping. Every person who participates, no matter how far away, will make a huge difference in our ability to reach people, media, and the companies who would otherwise get away with the wholesale slaughter of millions of animals. We hope you can join us!

Mercy For Animals; “I could only watch as she lay kicking and blinking, conscious and suffering . . .”

I could only watch as she lay kicking and blinking, conscious and suffering, for minutes before she finally died.

Pig number 46257’s death was no less cruel than her life living in a filthy, metal gestation crate not much larger than her body. She could barely move. She developed sores on her face from being forced to lie pressed against the bars of her cage. By the end, she was too sick to stand.

There is a reason why these ‘torture chambers’ have been banned in the entire European Union and in nine U.S. states. We cannot allow Sobeys, Loblaws, Metro, and Walmart to continue selling pork raised in these horrific conditions. Sign my petition demanding these stores stop sourcing pork from animals locked in gestation crates immediately.

I am an investigator with Mercy For Animals Canada and I went undercover for 10 weeks at a Puratone factory farm supplying pork to these stores. Last week I went public on CTV’s W5 with footage of the horrific conditions I observed. The misery and abuse that I witnessed will haunt me for the rest of my life.

The good news is that we can change what these stores are selling, because we have done it before. Major retailers like Costco, Safeway, McDonald’s, Tim Hortons, and over 40 others in Canada and the United States have taken a stand against gestation crates, demanding pork suppliers do away with them.

Sign my petition and demand that Sobeys, Loblaws, Metro and Walmart follow their competitors and do the right thing.

Hopeful,
“Darrel”

MFA Canada Undercover Investigator
