A Night For The Oceans Vancouver

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is seeking your support to attend the event “A Night for the Oceans” being held November 20th, 2010 at the Century House here in Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. A Night for the Oceans is a global initiative to raise awareness and funds to support Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in their next anti-whaling campaign in the Antarctic waters. The event will bring together passionate supporters, their friends and family and any one interested in learning more about the organization. The event’s venue will be the ‘Century House’, originally a bank built in 1911 that has been converted into a Latin-themed restaurant/lounge. This venue features barrel vaulted ceilings, original Victorian chandeliers, the old vault and marble staircase. There will be a table set up and run by SSCS staff to provide more information about the cause as well as to sell merchandise. The old vault will be set up as a silent auction where guests can bid on items donated from generous sponsors. There will be complimentary vegetarian appetizers served, and guests will enjoy a free Patron or Stella Artois from the bar. Everyone will receive a gift bag from LUSH that will be included with admission. The event will bring the opportunity to share a drink or two, socialize, and bring awareness on the current issues affecting our Oceans, specifically the illegal whaling taking place in the southern oceans. Not only do these efforts support our love for the Oceans but they also provide opportunities for philanthropic growth, as all the proceeds of our event will go to SSCS to help fund their next campaign. More about the society and the organizer: Paul Watson is the founder of Sea Shepherd Conversation Society and has become well known on the environmental front for his continued efforts in protecting the oceans. Recently there has been a large increase in supporters thanks to the television show “Whale Wars” on Animal Planet that follows the captain and crew in their anti-whaling campaigns. The next campaign will be featured in season 4 of the successful TV series. The organizer of this year’s “A Night for the Oceans” Antoine Lum is Paul Watson’s nephew and has been an active volunteer and crewmember with SSCS since 1999. He has been involved in many efforts in the last 10 years representing SSCS during campaigns in Galapagos Islands, Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada, Fiji, Australia, Hawaii, and is looking to crew in the upcoming 2010 Antarctica Campaign. We are counting on your support and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Thank you in advance for your willingness to support the efforts of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and make a difference for our oceans. Sincerely, Antoine Lum & Jessa Eng Special Event Managers Sea Shepherd Conservation Society – CanadaDEFEND – CONSERVE – PROTECT
